Welcome to Mei Keng Fatt Seafood Restaurant Sdn Bhd’s history

The Mei Keng Fatt Seafood Restaurant Sdn Bhd was established on 27 December 1990 in Tamkong Chinese New Village. Being the initial pioneer of seafood restaurant in the village, we started off with a small shop containing only 10 round tables with 13 employees including family members. The Mei Keng Fatt Seafood Restaurant Sdn Bhd is a full service restaurant offering various scrumptious seafood, traditional family dishes and steamboat.

Through determination, perseverance and plenty of hard-work, Mr Phoong and his partner successfully expanded the business with new and innovative seafood (crabs, shrimps, and fish) dishes such as Fried Black Pepper shrimps, The Chili Crabs and Winter Melon Seafood soup. To enhance the taste of these all-time favorite dishes, we use homemade sauces prepared by our highly skilled chef and also sauces from world’s top brand such as Maggie. All our dishes are prepared using fresh ingredients (chili, garlic, and lemongrass) to ensure the freshness and the originality of the taste. 

1995- In March 3, 1995, Mei Keng Fatt Seafood Restaurant Sdn Bhd was expanded to 2 floors with new and widen lobby, kitchen and walkways. Number of employees was increased to 38 people and the number of tables was increased to 30 tables to occupy the increase number of customers over the years. Mei Keng Fatt Seafood Restaurant Sdn Bhd became a popular dining place for most of the residents and customers within 1km away from Tamkong village (nearby industrial area, foreign residents, consulates and corporate staff).

Mr Phoong and his partner then discern the potential of the crab cuisine through customers’ valued opinions and feedback. After some research, we developed and improved other flavours such as Butter Milk, Sweet Marmite, Black Pepper, Rice Wine, Salted Egg Yolk etc. We then started importing high quality “Australian Oversized Crab” weighing approx 2-3kgs and “Sri Lanka Crabs” weighing approx 1kg. Both of these crabs were mouth-watering and soon become our customers’ all-time favorite!

2000- We continued our strategy to target the crab cuisine in KL. Soon, Mei Keng Fatt Seafood Restaurant Sdn Bhd is known as a Seafood Restaurant. We then reached steady increase in number of customers, which lead us to renovate the restaurant. Mei Keng Fatt Seafood Restaurant Sdn Bhd has 3-levels in total and fully equipped with Karaoke Services and Private Rooms. The lobby is also enlarged to locate the customers’ need for wedding functions, birthday parties and other special occasions. For the convenience of our valued customers, we also bought the land directly opposite for parking purposes. Our staffs then increased to 60 people with uniform provided to guarantee that our customers are served by a group of best service-oriented and neat staffs.

To ensure the freshness of all kinds of seafood, we build 10 see-through glass fish tanks which contain various kinds of live seafood such as Bamboo Fish, The Tiger Grouper, Australian Lobster, Canada Geoducks, Tiger Mantis, The Philippines (Slipper Lobster), and Alaska Spider Crabs.

Since then, Mei Keng Fatt Seafood Restaurant Sdn Bhd was interviewed by several local media newspaper and also the world-famous Hong Kong’s food column. With this, our restaurant is visited by several popular celebrities from all around the world to enjoy our fresh and unique seafood dishes especially our very own Chili Crab!
